In the summer months, we are extra busy applying sun protection to our skin, but did you know that your hair also needs sun protection? Just like your skin, your hair can be damaged by the harmful effects of sunlight. These UV rays make your hair dry, frizzy, and porous. UVA and UVB Radiation

There are two types of ultraviolet radiation (UV) that affect skin and hair: UVA and UVB. Natural sunlight consists of 95% UVA and 5% UVB. UVA rays have a long wavelength and penetrate deeply into the skin and hair. As a result, they can damage collagen and elastin and cause skin aging. That’s also why the A in UVA stands for Aging.

UVB rays are more powerful than UVA rays, but because of their short wavelength, they penetrate less deeply. However, UVB rays are the most dangerous, as they cause DNA damage and sunburn. That’s why the B in UVB stands for Burning.
