ZENZ: a sense of wellness and social engagement in one

As a lifestyle salon, we believe it is important to do everything we do with a purpose. We value working with environmentally conscious products and are committed to reducing waste, achieving sustainability, promoting a circular economy, and supporting people in need. Customers who visit us are aware of this and are thus also socially involved in this mission. Today, we take a closer look at our new product line, ZENZ. Christiaan Lifestyle Salon & Spa is one of only four salons in the Netherlands affiliated with this amazing brand. 

Meet ZENZ

ZENZ Organic Products was founded by Danish eco-conscious hairdresser Anne-Sophie Skjødt Villumsen. Anne-Sophie wanted to develop high-quality products that meet eco certifications, are pleasant to use for both hairdressers and clients, and give the customer a sense of wellness. There is now also a product line for skin and makeup. For the truly eco-conscious customer, products from Denmark are the best: the requirements for sustainable beauty products are very strict and strictly enforced.

The ZENZ Organic product line includes both scented and unscented products, all made from the purest and best natural ingredients, such as organic cold-pressed avocado oil and organic purified aloe vera. Produced under strict conditions using only vegan ingredients and not tested on animals. In addition, the packaging is made with love for nature: everything is packaged in recyclable plastic, and last year ZENZ Organic Products introduced new packaging made from ocean plastic—recycled plastic waste collected from the Indian Ocean. And just as important: none of the products or ingredients are tested on animals.

Sensitive skin? Zenz is your new best friend! Most products are 100% vegan and the majority carry the strict Nordic Ecolabel certification.
Cosmetic products with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel are free from:

• CMR ingredients* or ingredients for which there is still uncertainty.
• Preservative methylisothiazolinone (MI) and its derivatives.
• Preservatives that can trigger allergic reactions.
• Parabens and other substances suspected of being hormone disruptors (as listed by the EU).
• Microplastics.
• CMR stands for Carcinogenic (cancer-causing), Mutagenic (genetic damage), & Reproductively-toxic (fertility disorders, problems with fetal development).

Are you sensitive to perfume or prone to allergies? Then the PURE line is for you. This line from ZENZ Organic Products is AllergyCertified. Skin allergy (or contact dermatitis) is one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide. AllergyCertified is the international allergy label.

AllergyCertified not only checks for allergens, but also for other impure, carcinogenic substances and hormone-disrupting chemicals.

Helping Uganda

When you buy a Zenz product, you give back to the earth in more ways than one: ZENZ raises money for Plan International. This organization helps young, vulnerable mothers in Uganda to follow hairdressing training. This enables these young women to escape poverty and possibly prostitution. Their children are also indirectly helped and given a chance at a safe childhood.
