What skincare product do you use for your skin? Do you know what ingredients are in it and where these ingredients come from? In this blog, we give you a look into the origin and the sustainable vision of the products from our favorite lines.
Did you know that all products from [ comfort zone ] are made in the village of Parma, located in Italy? To be precise, in the Davines Scientific Garden, a scientific garden of about 3,000 square meters.

"The scientific garden is a place of inner research, offering the opportunity for deep contact with nature and a sense of well-being."
A botanical garden as a source of raw materials to develop effective and sustainable product formulas, while also providing employees and visitors with a place to recharge in direct contact with nature. That was the idea behind the request with which the Davines Group approached the London-based agency del Buono Gazerwitz Landscape Architecture. This so-called ‘science garden’ is now part of the green zones of the Davines Village project, the new headquarters of the group, designed by studio Matteo Thun & Partners, which opened its doors in September 2018.
Inside the garden, there are four areas dedicated to different botanical categories: the Garden of Aromas, the Medical Garden, the Garden of Colors, and the Garden of Perfumes. All ingredients are sourced from this garden and transformed in the R&D laboratory into a delightful, natural product.

In November 2016, the Davines Group, with its two brands – Davines and [ comfort zone ] – became a B Corporation® . This is a new type of company that meets the highest standards regarding society and the environment, transparency, and reliability.
The Green Scissors is 100% committed to sustainability and social engagement. Their mission is: “Reducing waste, achieving sustainability, circular economy, and doing something for people who are struggling.” This company wants to turn as many hair salons as possible into places where customers not only feel comfortable, but also clearly see that the salons are socially engaged and aware of their responsibility towards the environment.

Saving raw materials from the trash
The Green Scissors wants – in addition to making hair salons more sustainable – to achieve several goals, such as recovering aluminum, plastics, and razor blades. This is also implemented in the salons themselves. "We save all plastics, aluminum tubes, foils, and razor blades from the trash. Even the cut hair is recycled into Eco Super Compost," says Brenda, Salon Manager at Christiaan.
"The choice to use only sustainable elements meant that we did not take the easy, well-trodden path, but that we had to develop products with integrity."
Sustainability above all! "Being honest is more important to us than being perfect, and we strive to do better every day. When we launched Authentic Beauty Concept, sustainability was close to our hearts." You can also find this in the products. Only sustainable elements are used. "A conviction that meant we did not take the easy, well-trodden path, but that we had to develop products with integrity," says Authentic Beauty Concept.
The packaging is not forgotten either. "It's not just about what's inside the product. We aim to make the packaging and materials for Authentic Beauty Concept as sustainable as possible, without compromising their premium look. Our packaging is fully recyclable, and with this project, we encourage everyone in the Netherlands to recycle empty Authentic Beauty Concept packaging in the right way. This way, you contribute to a sustainable world."
