Proper aftercare following a PMU treatment is extremely important. Often, the skin may be somewhat red and swollen after the procedure and can feel irritated. Additionally, the pigment may initially appear darker than expected, but within about three days the color will gradually become lighter as the skin renews itself. During this process, small scabs containing pigment particles may naturally fall off. This is a normal part of the healing process and is no cause for concern.
For a PMU treatment for your eyebrows, it is very important not to take any aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other blood-thinning medications for 24 hours before the treatment. This minimizes the risk of unwanted bleeding or complications during the procedure.
When having your eyes treated with an eyeliner PMU, we also recommend that you do not take any blood thinners for 48 hours before the treatment. In addition, avoiding alcohol and drugs during this period is important to achieve optimal results and minimize any risks. On the day of the treatment itself, avoid caffeine.
As an extra precaution, it is wise not to use eyelash serum for at least four weeks prior to the treatment. During the eyeliner treatment, you are not allowed to wear contact lenses. So remember to bring your glasses if you normally wear lenses, so you can see well before and after the treatment.
For a lip treatment, there are also specific steps you need to follow to ensure a successful and safe experience. As with the eyeliner treatment, we strongly recommend that you do not consume any blood thinners, alcohol, or drugs for 48 hours before the treatment. On the day of the treatment, it is important not to consume hot drinks.
Furthermore, it is important to avoid sunbathing or using a tanning bed for at least two weeks prior to the PMU lip treatment to protect the skin and prevent it from becoming overly sensitive.
As an additional guideline, it is advisable to allow at least four weeks between getting fillers and the PMU treatment.
For individuals who are prone to cold sores, extra caution is required. If you are experiencing a cold sore, it is not possible to proceed with the PMU treatment. If you frequently suffer from cold sores, it is wise to consult your general practitioner for preventive medication. The treatment can, even without a history of cold sores, activate the virus that causes this condition.
Following the recommended precautions prior to your PMU treatment is extremely important to ensure the safety, effectiveness, and desired aesthetic result of the procedure. Adhering to these specific guidelines, based on the area to be treated, will help minimize potential complications and ensure that you can confidently enjoy your PMU experience.
